![]() ![]() The characters are also pleasant companions on your journey. The adventure immediately kicks off with some key events and you are immediately drawn into the story. Still, it must be said that the story, despite the clichés, is (largely) fascinating. The general setup of Tales of Symphonia may not sound very original, but we can forgive that given the actual age of the game. Lloyd (as befits a good friend) joins Colette on this epic quest fraught with danger. So things are not going so well, but fortunately there is hope: Colette is a ‘chosen angel’ of the god Martel who has to undertake a long journey in order to save the world. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the ‘Desians’, an evil race, also terrorize the people of Sylvarant. ![]() However, it does not take very long before that peace comes to a brutal end: because the mana supply in Sylvarant (the world where the game takes place) is steadily emptying, the world is slowly but surely heading towards damnation. In Tales of Symphonia we meet Lloyd Irving, a young (but impulsive) boy who lives a peaceful life in the village of Iselia with his childhood friends Colette and Genis. A beloved game with long-time fans is reviving, but the question now is whether this new edition really has something ‘new’ to offer. However, many of those new fans have not yet been able to get acquainted with some ‘older’ Tales of classics and that must change! Bandai Namco is now pleased with a remaster of 2003’s Tales of Symphonia, the first game in the series to be officially released in the West. ![]() The last two mainline games in the series – Tales of Berseria and Tales of Arise – successfully modernized the franchise, attracting countless new fans to the series. Special | Tales of Symphonia Remastered – Bandai Namco has put a lot of effort into the ‘Tales of’ franchise in recent years, which has since become a classic in the JRPG genre. ![]()
